MOTS-c guidebook

MOTS-c guidebook

Choose a route for a real assessment.

Compare ways to have your health goal assessed. A consultation can explore that goal without promising MOTS-c.

What a pharmacy can legally make

As of September 30, 2026, MOTS-c was not approved for use in the United States by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

  • Under US rules checked September 26, 2026, an ordinary pharmacy could not legally make a medicine using raw MOTS-c.
  • With compounding, a medicine is prepared for an order instead of provided as a drug product that is already made.
  • Before discussing payment, ask: “Which rule allows your pharmacy to make a medicine from raw MOTS-c?”

This legal limit follows from US pharmacy rules and FDA’s findings about MOTS-c. It is about whether the ingredient is allowed, rather than whether it passed a laboratory safety test.

Care routes, compared by the same questions

Ask the same questions for every route. What will happen at the visit, who decides on care, and how is the next step arranged?

An in-person clinic

You meet a clinician, a health professional who assesses your concern. Ask what the visit will cover.

  • Assessment: what will be discussed or examined?
  • Responsibility: who is making the care decision?
  • Next step: how will tests and follow-up be handled?

Care by video, phone, or writing

This is called telehealth. Ask how the clinician, a health professional, will review your health history and your own needs.

  • Assessment: can the clinician ask more questions?
  • Responsibility: does the doctor hold a licence or other permission to treat me where I will be located for this visit?
  • Next step: who arranges care if a physical exam is needed?

A clinical trial

A clinical trial is a study in people that follows a written plan. Read the record for what is being tested and who can take part.

  • Assessment: does the study actually give MOTS-c?
  • Responsibility: who explains the study before I agree to take part?
  • Next step: are results available, or is the record still a plan?

Check the person and the pharmacy separately

US guidance checked September 26, 2026 says a doctor seeing you remotely needs a licence or other permission to treat you where you are during the visit.

  • A state medical board oversees doctors and publishes their licence records and any public penalties. A clear record cannot show the quality of the care.
  • The state pharmacy board keeps a separate licence record for the pharmacy.
  • Ask for the doctor’s and pharmacy’s full names before searching their licence records.
